Our five day long journey surrounded by the charms of the island will start today. After your arrival in Valletta (airport or port) we will move towards the hotel in order to rest and gather some energy before the excursions planned for the following days.
The day will be spent through the highlights of the island. We will visit Valletta, the capital, that will be a starting point for new tours: : we will travel along the Upper Barrakka gardens, where we’ll stop to admire the splendid panorama of the Grand Harbour; we will visit St. John’s Cathedral, a former convent church of the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem, and then we will admire the work of Michelangelo di Caravaggio, depicting the beheading of John the Baptist. We will also visit Renzo Piano’s new parliament, the city gate, the Marsaxlokk fishing village, the Blue Grotto, a cave with a natural arch surrounded with beautiful sea, and the ancient capital Mdina, a medieval town that owes its name to the Saracen invaders. We conclude the day reaching the hotel in Valletta.
During this day you will be free to visit any place you wish and then return to Valletta for the overnight stay.
A tiny island next to Malta, Gozo seems to balance millennia of invasions with its charming nature. We will relive the days of Omero strolling down in what has been identified as the island of Calypso. Among the main attractions we will visit the Ggantija Temples, built between 3600 and 3200 B.C., the Calypso’s Cave, the ancient salt pans and north coast, the Dwejra Bay, the Funghus Rock and the Azzure Window and the many other natural attractions. We will finally discover the Citadel and the main monuments of the old town center Rabat. We will conclude the day reaching the hotel in Valletta.
The last journey together will be the one to the airport or the port, where we say goodbye before you leave.
